BILL'S BIO

The driving force and backbone of Forbidden Zone’s songs cut right to the core essentials that our life experiences are formed from. The driving beats and sensual rhythms of Forbidden Zone’s drummer Bill West, put you in the driver’s seat. Bill has been playing drums for a long time, and when you hear him, you know it comes straight from the heart.

He grew up in Pennsylvania till the age of 10. Then relocated to California and has lived there ever since. So he has an appreciation for the difference between the East Coast and West Coast sound that everyone refers too.

He started playing drums in the early 1980’s. He took private lessons from Pat Carlucci, at the local music shop in town. That was always a highlight of the week for him, going to his drum lessons on Friday after school. Through these lessons he learned to read, write and play drum parts from various styles and genres of music.

He continued on with music through his college years, playing in numerous cover bands to keep his chops up and gain exposure. He enrolled in music classes at college to further his quest for knowledge. While performing at the college, he was asked by the music director to form a jazz trio, reading charts, to back the Jazz Choir. Which lead to other musical avenues previously unexplored.

Through mutual friends at jam sessions, he met up with Tom. The two struck off a solid friendship a few years back. Tom and Linda saw him at one of his shows and they decided to form Split Image, a cover band, to play out in the Orange County club circuit. From this group, the core of Forbidden Zone was discovered. Music has always been a big part of his life, and still is to this day. Just wait till you hear him play, and you will know why they call him Million Dollar Bill.
